Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish has marked Anti-Bullying Week by opening up about abuse to an ‘unbelievable’ young fan in a documentary for CBBC.
Grealish and fellow celebrity Chelcee Grimes are key features of the anti-bullying film, which is part of CBBC’s documentary series My Life.
The 28-year-old England international met up with Alfie Robinson, 12, to share his experiences of bullying, particularly on social media.
After being picked on by a group of boys in his year, Alfie started his own anti-bullying campaign in an effort to help other young people who are struggling.
Grealish heaped praise on Alfie after learning of his endeavours, revealing that he too suffers from abuse if he plays poorly for Manchester City or England.
‘If I don’t have a good game, I get a lot of stick on social media,’ Grealish explained. ‘It’s difficult, I’m not going to lie. I try not to read it as much as I can.’

‘Obviously, it’s a different situation to what happened with you, yours was at school and wasn’t really online.
‘But the way you’ve handled everything, putting posters up around the school, I think that’s unbelievable.
‘One of the most impressive things is that you’ve done this to help other people. It’s brilliant and so inspiring so make sure you keep this going.
‘I think it’s special you’re trying to help other people and I’m glad it’s stopped for you.’
The winger is currently on international duty with the Three Lions having come off the bench in City’s thrilling 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
