The only player within the England squad that Germany truly fear is Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, according to former Norway striker and BildZeitung columnist Jan Aage Fjortoft. The two nations are set to meet in the last 16 of Euro 2020 next week.
Sancho is yet to make his desired impact at the tournament, although he has been restricted to just one brief substitute appearance so far.
After three group games, manager Gareth Southgate appears to favour virtually every other winger in the squad with Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish all getting greater minutes.
Although, when it comes to the Germany game Sancho may be the Three Lions’ secret weapon thanks to his overseas experience.
The 21-year-old has played against Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter multiple times in the Bundesliga.

Meanwhile, he knows Dortmund team-mate Mats Hummels particularly well. The German veteran has been earmarked as someone to target due to his sub-par performances in the tournament so far.
The latest reports indicate that England are weighing up a return to a back three for the last 16 tie.
While this may not change too much at the end of the pitch Sancho is concerned with, a change in tactics cannot be bad news for Sancho who has been broadly overlooked so far.
Germany certainly haven’t overlooked him. Sancho has made quite the impression since his £10million move from Manchester City in 2017.

Boasting a strong strike rate of 50 goals in 137 games, his rate of assists is even better, leading to the incredible stat that he is responsible for 9 per cent of all goal involvements by players born after the year 2000 in Europe’s top five leagues.
Judging by how the summer transfer window is playing out, however, it looks like the Germans may not be able to marvel at Sancho’s quick feet for much longer.
Manchester United had an initial bid of £67m turned down several weeks ago.
Since then, the Red Devils have upped their bid to £72.6m, a figure which Dortmund are still likely to reject as it falls short of their valuation of the player.
However, with United quickly learning that Dortmund are not to be messed with in the transfer market, they will surely meet the German club’s demands to see the deal over the line.
It would be quite fitting, therefore, for Sancho to leave his final mark on German football with decisive action in their last 16 showdown next week.
