‘Behave yourself!’: Gary Neville hits back at Jamie Carragher’s claims he ‘cried off’ Monday Night Football after Manchester United’s 7-0 defeat by Liverpool… insisting he was ‘never meant to be on’

  • Liverpool embarrassed Manchester United by beating them 7-0 on Sunday
  • Jamie Carragher accused Gary Neville of ‘crying off’ Monday Night Football
  • Gary Neville denies the claims and told his fellow pundit to ‘behave yourself’

Gary Neville has denied Jamie Carragher’s jibe that he ‘cried off’ Monday Night Football after Manchester United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side were handed their heaviest defeat since 1931 by their biggest rivals, with Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez all scoring twice.

The result understandably put Neville in a bad mood, which led to a fierce argument with Graeme Souness on Sky.

Carragher tweeted on Monday to say the former United full back had ‘cried off’ his usual spot on Monday Night Football, but Neville has now shut down the jibe.

‘Behave yourself,’ he tweeted. ‘Never meant to be on as you well know you! I will be relaxing looking forward to watching you eulogise over a team you’ve killed for 2 months.’

The Bees currently lead 2-1 after Ivan Toney converted from the spot shortly after the break. Brentford have now scored an incredible 32 penalties since their last miss.

As it stands, Thomas Frank’s side will move within a point of Fulham with two games in hand on their West London rivals.
