Gary Neville believes Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea will all be fighting for fourth spot in the Premier League this season. The former right-back believes the two London clubs have the advantage over his old team, though Roy Keane disagrees.

United made it four wins in a row on Sunday, beating Arsenal 3-1 at Old Trafford to end the Gunners’ 100 per cent start to the season. Chelsea also got back to winning ways, overcoming West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Arsenal sit top of the table ahead of Manchester City and Tottenham. Neville believes the latter two will finish in the top three and reckons Liverpool will join them.

However, he is less certain about fourth place. He reckons United will struggle to qualify for the Champions League and says fifth would be an achievement for Erik ten Hag.

Neville said on Sky Sports: “I think City, Liverpool and Tottenham will finish in the top three. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United [to battle for fourth].

“You think Liverpool will come good don’t you because of what they’ve done. I think United will struggle to get into the top four personally.

“I just think Tottenham and Liverpool and City will, I think it’ll be between Arsenal, Chelsea and United. I just think the other two are slightly better.

“United will have to dig in really deep to win those two games against Arsenal and Liverpool. Liverpool could’ve equalised and Arsenal were good for large parts.

“There’s a long way to go, if you said to me a few weeks ago they’d finish fifth I’d bite your hand off. Fifth wouldn’t be a terrible result for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag from where they were.”

However, Neville’s former captain Keane believes United are nailed on to finish in the top four. Keane said: “I think United are certs for the top four.

“I think they’ve got a settled group now. The transfer windows shut now, a lot of players with baggage have gone now, new manager settling in, options off the bench we saw. United [top four] for me.”

Neville responded to Keane: “I’ve not seen you so confident.” United face a trip to Crystal Palace next in the Premier League on Sunday, while Arsenal host struggling Everton at the Emirates.
