Arsenal fans baffled as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink doubts Gabriel Jesus signing

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has bamboozled Arsenal fans by claiming summer signing Gabriel Jesus is not an ‘out and out’ goalscorer.

The Brazilian endured a difficult afternoon at Old Trafford during the Gunners’ 3-1 away loss to Manchester United. However, his display against Erik ten Hag’s side has certainly not taken the shine off what has been a very good start to life at Mikel Arteta’s side.

The former Manchester City man has helped himself to three goals and three assist in his first six Premier League matches for the Gunners. Yet, Hasselbaink remains unconvinced.

"He’s come in [and scored] three goals, made chances, made others around him play better,” the former Chelsea striker said to Sky Sports News. "I’m still not convinced he will be 20 goals a season because if he was that then why did he not do that at Man City in a better team?

"I think he had enough opportunities [at Man City]. He is not somebody that scores goals out and out and out.

"He’s somebody that loves scoring goals and likes to link up. He’s been brilliant at it, very strong, holding the ball up.

"He’s got three goals in five matches – which is brilliant – but you expect him to score more goals. He’s a great signing." Unsurprisingly, Hasselbaink’s views have not escaped the wrath of the Arsenal fan base.

"Did I miss something or was he not Arsenal's best and most dangerous player for most of that game," one Arsenal fan tweeted. "He did that for 5 games and one game where he doesn't really do well then all of a sudden people start saying things like this," another disgruntled supporter tweeted.

"What a STUPID comment," another fan added. This point of view was also echoed by another fan who simply wrote "An absolutely mind-bogglingly bad take."
