Gary Lineker accuses French of "talking bulls***" over ticket fraud claims

Gary Lineker has blasted French authorities for "talking bulls***" over claims of ticket fraud at Saturday's Champions League final.

France's interior minister Gerald Darmanin said in a press conference on Monday: "I would like to express our regrets with regard to the organisation of this final, because some people were not able to see the whole of the match."

Darmanin said 30,000 to 40,000 English supporters, a number backed by UEFA and French police, made their way to the Stade de France on Saturday evening. And upon arrival, the majority had found themselves 'without a ticket or with fake tickets'.

He continued: "It was noted there was massive fraud on an industrial scale and organisation for fake tickets because the pre-filtering by the Stade de France and the French Football Federation saw that 70% of tickets were fake tickets coming into the stadium."

However, Darmanin did add that the French police had been caught off guard by "local delinquents".

But Lineker was quick to call out the French authorities as he tweeted back a video of Darmanin's press conference saying: "It's bull****!"

Earlier on Monday, the French sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, had blamed Liverpool fans for the chaos.

She said: "What happened, first of all, was this mass gathering of the British supporters of the Liverpool club, without tickets, or with fake tickets."

Oudea-Castera had been speaking ahead of a meeting with UEFA and other officials to 'draw lessons' from the events of Saturday evening.
