Chelsea are leading the race to sign Erling Haaland this summer despite the desire of Borussia Dortmund to keep him for one more season – but he won't be coming cheap.
While there is a clause in his contract to leave for around £72million next summer, the teenager has no such agreement for this year and could therefore cost in the region of £150m.
Despite that, Roman Abramovich has always been willing to spend top prices for top players, and could even offer up players in a swap to sweeten the deal for Dortmund.
Daily Star Sport have now detailed four out-of-favour stars that could help the Blues agree a deal with the Bundesliga challengers, one of which already has one foot out the door.
Fikayo Tomori – £26m
The most obvious way Chelsea will boost their chances of signing Haaland this summer is by boosting their transfer kitty – with Fikayo Tomori set to join Milan this month.
The England defender was tipped to return to Stamford Bridge and impress by former boss Frank Lampard, by Thomas Tuchel appears to have no such intention following Champions League glory.
The 23-year-old has a buy-out clause of £26m in the loan agreement, and won't be going anywhere if famous admirer and Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has anything to say about it.
Tammy Abraham – £30m
Tammy Abraham looked cheerful in Chelsea's Champions League final celebrations after beating Manchester City, but his career has stalled since Lampard was replaced.
The 23-year-old had looked a good bet to go to Euro 2020 as Harry Kane's back up earlier in the season, but has since been replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has been included by Gareth Southgate.
In addition, Dortmund are always on the lookout for talented young players, and Abraham could prove a sensible replacement for Haaland and might well be included in the conversation.
Should Chelsea offer Abraham in a swap for Haaland? Let us know in the comments.
Hakim Ziyech – £30m
Hakim Ziyech failed to hit the ground running in his debut season for Chelsea, scoring just two league goals across 23 outings as he was outshone by Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.
Despite that, the Moroccan will still have plenty of admirers on the continent following his fine displays for Ajax before his recent move, and could transfer again this summer.
The 28-year-old will not be happy in a back-up role under Tuchel given that he is entering the peak years of his career, and cost the club £33m last summer.
Kepa Arrizabalaga – £20m
Kepa Arrizabalaga's time at Chelsea has gone from bad to worse since his £71m move from Athletic Bilbao back in 2018, and is now firmly second choice behind Edouard Mendy.
Tuchel gave the Spaniard a chance following his arrival, but that wasn't taken and he is now looking at another season of sitting on the bench.
Although the Blues will not be able to recover the fee they spent on the 26-year-old, there will be those in La Liga that are interested in a potential cut-price deal.
