Former Arsenal and Fulham ace looks unrecognisable dressed as Baywatch star

Former Arsenal and Fulham defender Moritz Volz looked unrecognisable when doing his best David Hasselhoff impression – completed by two separate wigs.

The ex-Germany youth international spent nine years in England while also representing Wimbledon and Ipswich and once enjoyed a magazine photo shoot that has again taken fans by surprise.

With one particular snap resurfacing long after his 2015 retirement, the current assistant coach at Galatasaray might just feel a tag regretful of his Baywatch shoot.

Wearing red shorts and carrying a float, Volz adorned a curly wig as well as fake chest hair while posing next to a pool on a ladder.

One fan said in response on social media: "90s footballer photoshoots, the gift that keeps on giving."

A second joked of the gloomy weather: "Typical L.A. weather in the background."

The snap was actually from a 2006 interview done with FourFourTwo, which included a parody chat of his love for Hasselhoff – who is adored in Germany.

It said: "The Hoff is my hero. He always has been. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the Hoff isn’t just a person. He’s a state of mind, a kind of higher power.

"Hoff-ness is everywhere and he is the ultimate source of inspiration to me. In times of trouble I often ask myself, how would the Hoff deal with this situation…?"

Volz played only twice for Arsenal during his time at the club, but did pick up two FA Youth Cup titles before moving across London.

He stayed at Fulham for five seasons making a total of 144 appearances, returning to Germany with St Pauli in 2010 where he played 23 times.

Having retired after a spell with 1860 Munich in 2015, he spent time as assistant at RB Leipzig before moving to Galatasaray under Okan Buruk last year.
