Football Manager wonderkid scores shootout-winning panenka in Champions League
Football Manager wonderkid Roony Bardghji scored a decisive Champions League shootout-winning penalty with a Panenka.
The 17-year-old FC Copenhagen midfielder came on as a substitute during the second-leg of his side’s crucial third qualifying round tie. Copenhagen couldn’t believe their luck as they took the lead inside a minute, but an 80th minute Sparta Prague equaliser sent the game to extra-time.
There was more drama as both sides netted twice, each managing to respond with an equaliser as the game ended 3-3 – with a dreaded penalty shootout needed to separate them.
Yet the pressure did not phase teen sensation Bardghji, who stepped up and sealed a 4-2 shootout victory in astonishing fashion.

Bardghji, with ice in his veins, embarrassed the opposition goalkeeper with a cheeky chip. His tame effort barely kissed the net, sparking wild celebrations as Copenhagen progressed to the Champions League play-offs – one step away from qualification.
His tremendous show of skill left fans on social media stunned, with many of them having a personal connection with the Kuwait-born Swedish international due to the Football Manager gaming franchise.
One Twitter user responded to a clip of the Panenka with: “THE football manager 2023 wonderkid,” while another wrote: “My FM wonder kid serious baller.”

A third tweeted: “My FM star boy,” and another gushed: “This is why I always sign him on FM, big game player.”
Bardghji is classed as a right-sided attacking-midfielder on FM, where he quickly becomes one of the standout stars in the game due to his excellent technical and physical stats, alongside unrelenting determination. And his determination certainly translates to real life, with the highly-rated talent already setting his sights on a move to Real Madrid.
Speaking to Aftonbladet earlier this year, he said: "My goal is to become the best footballer in the world. I've had that dream since I was a kid and nothing can stop me except myself.
"My dream is to play in the big leagues, clubs, and tournaments and the club I want to end up in is Real Madrid. I want to play there for many years."
