Fans have reacted after England’s Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history following the auction on Friday.
Six franchises submitted offers for Curran however they were beaten off after the Punjab Kings bid £1.9million for the England all-rounder.
The record-breaking bid comes shortly after his impressive performances during England’s T20 World Cup win and fans were quick to post memes about the lucrative deal.

One fan simply posted a GIF of two characters from The Simpsons have a ‘money fight’ and wrote the caption: ‘Harry Brook Vs Sam Curran’.
‘Sam Curran will be partying the f*** out tonight’, another user claimed.
England cricketer Alexandra Hartley posted a meme of a man eating popcorn excitedly and captioned it: ‘Sam Curran right now!!’.
Royal Challengers Bangalore shared a GIF of Tom Cruise’s iconic phrase ‘Show me the money’ and wrote: ‘Sam Curran right now at 1850L’.
TV host Piers Morgan chimed in with his views, writing: ‘Sam Curran becomes most expensive player in IPL auction history… £1.84 million. Merry Christmas’.
Batter Harry Brook sold for over £1.3m after Sunrisers Hyderabad out-bid Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore for the Yorkshire star.

Curran was named player of the tournament following England’s T20 World Cup win
However, some users offered brutal criticisms, with one writing: ‘Why!? That’s got to be the worst ever buy in the history of IPL. Even worse than some of Royal Challengers Bangalore’.
The bid for Curran smashed the previous record which was set last year when South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for £1.6m.
His value soared after an outstanding T20 World Cup campaign last month. He was named player of the tournament after picking up 13 wickets at an average of 11.38 as England became world champions in both 20-over and 50-over cricket.

Other bids saw Test captain Ben Stokes bought by the Chennai Super Kings for around £1.62m.
There was understandable interest in Stokes, who was brilliant in England’s World Cup win with Chennai out-bidding four other franchises to secure his services.
Joe Root went unsold at his base price of one crore, just over £100,000, as on his only previous appearance in the auction in 2018.
There is still the chance for Root to be claimed later in the team-building process.
