Ex-England star Rose training with non-league club days after viral punditry

Former England and Tottenham Hotspur star Danny Rose has been spotted training with National League side York City.

Rose, 32, has been without a club since the summer, when his contract was terminated by Watford. However, the full-back – who is a Yorkshire native – is believed to be training with the side to boost his fitness levels.

Even during his spell for the Hornets, Rose struggled to break into the first team – and he made just nine appearances over two seasons. Rose is best remembered for his spell at Spurs, where he also played for the national team at the 2018 World Cup.

Rose recently went viral when he slammed Spurs following their Champions League exit earlier this month.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Rose said: "You say they have the best stadium… you can have the best house but if the furniture’s not the best inside, then it’s irrelevant

"Going at the hierarchy… I still look to go into the Spurs training ground so I'll have to be careful what I say but I think that everybody has to be held accountable.

"I heard something recently that the signings have not been great and it’s bizarre as I’m sure I said something like that six years ago and got fined two weeks' wages but here we are."

Spurs were lacklustre as they huffed and puffed against a resolute AC Milan side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium only to end up empty handed. And their Premier League form hasn't been much better, with Antonio Conte's side just about hanging onto their fourth-place spot as the season enters its final stretch.
