Patrice Evra left his former France team-mate Thierry Henry in stitches after eating part of the Old Trafford grass ahead of Manchester United’s game against Tottenham on Wednesday. Evra and Henry were pundits for the match alongside Belgium boss Roberto Martinez.

Amazon Prime Video presenter Gabby Logan introduced Evra at a stadium he knows so well. But his fondness for the Theatre of Dreams is beyond what his punditry colleagues were expecting.

Evra said: “Yeah of course it’s really special. This is home, I call it home. It’s a little bit windy but don’t worry guys, I asked someone to turn off the AC.”

He then bent down to pick up some grass and started eating it, before continuing: “And yeah of course I always do this, do you know Gabby? I always test the grass and yes, it’s a little bit garlicy but it tastes the same.

“But yeah this is my home. Bon appetit.”

Arsenal legend Henry was bent over in amusement at Evra’s antics, while Martinez also enjoyed the moment.
