England’s bid to host Euro 2020 this summer takes step closer becoming reality

UEFA have reportedly welcomed England's offer to host the entire Euros this summer, with the competition currently scheduled to take place in 12 different cities across Europe.

Wembley is already set to play host to seven games and Prime Minister Boris Johnson told the Sun on Tuesday: "We are hosting the Euros. We are hosting the semis and the final.

"If there’s, you know, if they want any other matches that they want hosted, we’re certainly on for that but at the moment that’s where we are with UEFA."

Now, a new report from the Sun claims the offer to host the entire tournament has been welcomed by those at UEFA, with a source telling the publication: "It is great for us that England is so keen to play its part this summer."

The report notes that UEFA have given the tournament's host cities until April 7 to confirm that they are willing to host games with fans in attendance.

UEFA are said to be determined to see fans return at the tournament and they want all cities to commit to allowing some supporters to attend games.

However, only nine have made that commitment to UEFA so far.

England boss Gareth Southgate believes the UK could host the entire Euros if needed, saying: "We obviously we have our group matches at Wembley anyway, so we are hugely looking forward to that.

"We’ve got our fingers crossed that we keep progressing as we are, and that there could be some fans back in the stadium, that would be the first step.

"But we've got to as a team, we've got to remember that just hosting is not a great guarantee of success. So we don't win just because you're the host, we won't win just because our route matches are at Wembley, we've got to play well. And we've got to be as prepared as we possibly can be."
