Eddie Howe has been named the Premier League manager of the month for October, after guiding Newcastle to third in the table, while the Magpies’ Miguel Almiron has won both the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards.
Howe enjoyed an impressive month on Tyneside, leading his Newcastle side to five wins and a draw from the six matches, taking 16 of the 18 points available.
The Magpies scored 15 times across those games, conceding just three goals and have now gatecrashed the Premier League’s top four and looking like legitimate candidates for Champions League football next season.

Howe beat off competition from Arsenal’s Mikkel Arteta and Man City boss Pep Guardiola to make it a Newcastle double, with Miguel Almiron taking both the Player of the Month gong and the goal of the month award for his sensational strike against Fulham.
Almiron has been one of Howe’s biggest success stories, having turned the Paraguayan’s fortunes around at St James’ Park. The midfielder has scored eight goals in 15 games this season, already matching his biggest goal tally over a season for the Toon.
Alongside Almiron, Callum Wilson also is playing some of the best football of his career, which was rewarded by nabbing a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, while Nick Pope and Bruno Guimarares have been two of the stars of the season so far.

The clean sweep of awards is the first time a single club has won all three since Chelsea achieved the same feat in November 2016. On that occasion Antonio Conte was Manager of the Month, Diego Costa won the players’s award and Pedro was awarded Goal of the Month.
For Howe, it is the second time he has bagged the Manager of the Month award while Newcastle boss, having scooped the honour back in February. The 44-year-old also collected three Manager of the Month nods whilst Bournemouth boss.
Newcastle have only lost one game in all competitions so far this season, and even that came via a controversial injury time winner at Anfield in the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the end of August.
