Dean Henderson to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer major dilemma after next six games

Dean Henderson has been given the chance to replace rival David De Gea as Manchester United's No.1 goalkeeper.

De Gea could miss up to six of United's next games after returning to Spain to be with his partner Edurne, who is expecting their first child.

United say he will be missing for 'personal reasons' and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has allowed De Gea to spend time with his family until after the next international break at the end of this month.

It means he will miss crucial clashes against Manchester City, West Ham, Leicester and the two-legged showdown with AC Milan in the Europa League.

Solskjaer will turn to Henderson, who knows he now has the perfect chance to stake his claim as United's first choice keeper.

Henderson has been desperate to prove he is United's best keeper since returning to the club in the summer following a successful loan spell with Sheffield United.

The 23-year-old has made no secret of his desire to usurp De Gea – as well as establish himself as England's No.1 ahead of Jordan Pickford.

He replaced De Gea for Wednesday night's draw at Crystal Palace and will remain in goal for the foreseeable future, in a move that could leave Solskjaer facing a huge dilemma once De Gea comes back to Manchester.

If Henderson performs well it will be difficult for Solskjaer to bring De Gea straight back in, despite keeping faith with the Spanish international during several dodgy spells in recent seasons.
