Tyson Fury says he’s not retiring as he reacts to Usyk’s win over Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury has seemingly performed another retirement U-turn after watching Oleksandr Usyk beat Anthony Joshua, declaring that "the Gypsy King is here to stay forever."

Usyk outpointed Joshua in Saudi Arabia, winning the contest by a split decision. But WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion Fury wasn't impressed with what he saw.

The 34-year-old described the fight as "one of the worst heavyweight title fights" he had ever seen and "bull***" before demanding promotors get their chequebook out for his return. It comes just over a week after Fury confirmed his retirement on social media, although, as many expected, that now appears short-lived.

"Be honest with you guys, after watching that, both of them were s****!" a raging Fury said on Instagram. "It was one of the worst heavyweight title fights I have ever seen. It was b*******."

Before adding: "Come on! I would annihilate both of them on the same night, f****** s****! Get your f****** checkbook out, because the Gypsy King is here to stay forever!"

The prospect of a blockbuster unification showdown between Usyk and Joshua is something that all boxing fans want to see, and Joshua's conqueror wants to make it happen.

"I'm convinced Tyson Fury is not retired," Usyk told Sky Sports after his victory in Saudi Arabia. "I want to fight Tyson Fury, if I'm not fighting Tyson Fury then I'm not fighting at all."

Fury and Usyk are both unbeaten, adding another layer of excitement to a potential clash between the pair. The Gypsy King seemed to announce his retirement earlier this month, writing on social media: "Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years & after long hard conversations I’ve finally (sic) decided to walk away & on my 34th birthday I say Bon voyage.

"Massive shoutout to parisfury1 who helped me more than anyone. and most of all thank you God. See you all on the other side you big dossers 2008-2022."

But little over a week on from that statement, it seems Fury is prepared to shelve his retirement plans and return to the ring once more.
