Deadline Day legend Jim White to leave Sky Sports after 23 years

Sky Sports News presenter Jim White has announced he is quitting the channel after 23 years of service.
White, who has earned a cult following thanks to his legendary Deadline Day broadcasts, revealed the news on Twitter.
He tweeted: "Breaking news!! After 23 fantastic years, it's time to bid farewell to Sky Sports. After much thought and with a heavy heart I live Sky Sports News – but what a journey it has been.
"To all the superb producers, assistant producers, directors and floor manager, a massive thank you. To my fellow presenters, thank you.
"Other media challenges lie ahead! Have presented every late shift on every Transfer Deadline Day – thanks for everything Harry! To everyone out there, keep watching the best sports news channel in the business. #YellowTieForSale."
Fans on Twitter were devastated after learning of the news, with some claiming Deadline Day would never be the same again.
One person wrote: "Noooooooooooo deadline day will never be the same again @JimWhite absolute legend all the very best to ya fella."
While another said: "Gutted! Absolute legend! Transfer deadline day will never be the same!"
A third added: "Actually can't believe this hasn't been announced at 22:59 on deadline day. All the best for the future Jim."
Former players who have guested on White's show were quick to wish the departing Scot well.
Ex-Stoke City and Liverpool man Charlie Adam said: "Congratulations Jim on a great career at sky. Good luck with the future."
Director of Sky Sports News Mark Alford also afforded White a glowing tribute for his many years of service.
He said: “Jim is a first-class broadcaster and journalist. The energy, drive and, of course, stories he has delivered in his stellar 23 years with SSN is peerless.
"His friends throughout Sky wish him every success in his future endeavours. Thank you, Jim.”
White, who joined Sky Sports in 1998, is also a presenter on radio station talkSPORT after replacing Colin Murray in 2016.
