- City fans have high hopes for ‘baller’ Haaland as they prepare for the new season
Manchester City fans have been heaping praise on their new striker Erling Haaland after the Norway international scored his first goal for the club on debut against Bayern Munich.
Haaland provided the only goal of the game when he finished a cross from Jack Grealish after 12 minutes, as City won the pre-season friendly 1-0 in Wisconsin.
It was a strong start for the 22-year-old who signed from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million earlier this summer, and one that has caused excitement among the Etihad faithful.

City fans waxed lyrical over the performance of their new star striker Haaland
‘Haaland scored his first goal for City and they stop the game to allow for the rest of the world to recover’, tweeted one fan. The game was twice postponed due to lightning strikes.
Another focused on his link-up play with City’s man of the match, saying ‘Grealish and Haaland is going to be fun.’
Grealish was something of a disappointment last season after joining for £100m, but his lively performance on Sunday could be a sign of things to come.
Fans also saw their new signing’s success as a sign of what was to come when their Premier League title defence begins next month.
One supporter said: ‘I’m sorry to say this but Haaland is winning EPL top scorer next se season. 28 tap-ins loading’, while another simply called him ‘a baller.’
The 22-year-old was even labelled ‘the Nordic Meat Shield’ by one fan, who said the goal will be his ‘first of many.’
Haaland will have a chance to prove himself in a more competitive atmosphere when City take on Liverpool in the Community Shield on Saturday, July 30.
