Chelsea ‘offered Matthijs de Ligt’ as Juve look to get mammoth wages off bill
Chelsea have reportedly been offered Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt by Juventus as the Italian club attempt to get his mammoth wages off their books.
The Dutch defender is understood to be on wages of £280,000-per-week at Juventus as well as having a £130million release clause that becomes active in the summer.
Thomas Tuchel's side have been keen to add a new central defender to their squad having missed out on Sevilla's Jules Kounde in the summer.
In addition, they have so far failed to agree new deals for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen with just eight months left on their contracts.
Goal reports that Chelsea have now been offered de Ligt by Juventus, with the 22-year-old understood to cost less than his release clause as the Old Lady want to sell.
Despite this, though, de Ligt is said to be 'content' at Juventus having only joined the club in 2019 from Ajax for a fee worth £75million.
Chelsea have already held talks with his agent, Mino Raiola, despite previously avoiding signing players represented by the infamous super agent.
Raiola is also thought to have held talks with both Manchester City and Barcelona, having previously suggested this could be de Ligt's last season with Juve.

"De Ligt could leave Juventus at the end of the season," revealed Raiola in a recent interview.
"This is how the market works, there are many clubs who are interested in his services."
The former Ajax defender has so far started six of Juventus' nine Serie A matches this season as well as all three of their matches in the Champions League.
This included their 1-0 win over Chelsea last month and Juve have yet to concede a goal in Europe following clean sheets against both Malmo and Zenit St Petersburg either side of the Chelsea victory.
In his two years with Juventus, de Ligt has also won one league title and the Coppa Italia, having previously won the domestic double in his final season playing in the Netherlands.
