Chelsea and Arsenal do not have plans to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic in January despite rumours of interest from both clubs, according to reports. The Premier League sides have previously monitored the Serbian striker but are not anticipating making a move ahead of the winter window.

Vlahovic turned down an approach from Arsenal to sign for Juve from Fiorentina in January 2022. However, he has endured a tough time in Italy.

Despite scoring five times in seven Serie A matches this season, critics have suggested that Vlahovic has seemed isolated in Juve’s rigid system. Head coach Max Allegri has played down reports of a rift between him and his player.

There have been some suggestions that Vlahovic could leave the Italian club just a year after joining, especially with them struggling in Serie A. However, it seems unlikely that it will be to a Premier League team.

According to CBS Sports, interest from Chelsea and Arsenal in the 22-year-old is “not significant” and has been described by sources as “not active”.

Chelsea are believed to have other targets for their long-term No. 9 role, with Romelu Lukaku widely expected to depart once his loan back at Inter Milan finishes. At 33, summer arrival Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a short-term fix.

Arsenal have plugged their striking problems with the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. The Brazilian has struck five times in nine games across all competitions, and has already become a fans’ favourite at the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, Chelsea appear close to securing a pre-contract deal with RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku. However, boss Graham Potter would not be drawn on commenting on rumours linking the Frenchman with Stamford Bridge.

Potter said on Tuesday: “As I’ve said before, my answer is that I don’t speak about players that are Chelsea players. If you want to ask about Chelsea players, I am happy to speak about them. It was the same at Brighton, you get linked with a lot of players and there are a lot of names out there.

“And you can imagine it gets escalated when you’re at a club like Chelsea. But I will speak about Chelsea players and not comment on anyone else.”
