Carragher would ‘knock the f*** out of’ pundit rival Neville in boxing fight

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has vowed to "knock the f***" out of Gary Neville should the Sky Sports colleagues ever meet in a charity boxing clash.

Partaking in a fair few on-field battles during their playing days, the duo have since put their grievances aside to form one of the most recognisable punditry teams in world football.

Regulars in the gantry and the TV studio, Carragher and Neville are not shy of taunting one another but the former England internationals could now be set to trade their jibes for jabs after Carragher called out his co-worker on social media.

"It would have to be Gary Neville – and I’d knock the f*** out of him," answered the former Liverpool defender when quizzed by Boxxer on which current or ex-football he'd like to face in the ring.

It seems the fight would have popular backing amongst football fans. "Make it happen," stated one supporter. "This has got to happen," harked another.

"Imagine seeing a Carragher vs Neville press conference and face off," hailed a third. "I’d pay for that PPV ngl. Or Carra vs Keane would be a good scrap," commented a fourth.

Supporters are also backing Carragher to come out on top over 12 rounds, giving Neville no chance should the bout go ahead. "I’m a Utd fan but yeah you would smash him at boxing I reckon.. would be a funny fight," blasted one fan.

"Yeah my money would be on Carra" hailed a second. While a third stated: "He would actually smash him as well tbf."

Neville might not be fancied by fans on TikTok but he isn't short on confidence. Just last month the ex-Manchester United captain claimed he could take Carragher and former WBO light-middleweight champion Liam Smith at the same time.

"I'd do them both at once," joked Neville on Sky Sports. "I'd just need Phil with me."
