Buzzing Ibrahima Konate celebrates new Liverpool shirt with childhood friends
Ibrahima Konate celebrated his dream Liverpool move with flares, fireworks and hometown friends.
The defender signed from RB Leipzig earlier this summer for a £36million fee after Liverpool triggered his release clause and is already fast becoming a fan favourite of the Anfield faithful.
Konate was seen back in his hometown district of La Roquette, Paris, surrounded by dozens of childhood friends who turned up for the occasion in support with red flares and fireworks.
A video shows the Frenchman at the centre of attention, sitting in the middle of a caged pitch and unveiling his new Liverpool shirt as his entourage bounce around and chant with joy.
Konate can be seen taking a Liverpool shirt out of his duffel bag before presenting it to the camera, displaying his new number-five jersey for the Reds.
The 22-year-old captured the hearts of Liverpool fans last month with a similar video where friends set off red flares in his garden while ‘You’ll never walk alone’ blared in the background.
Liverpool have since confirmed his shirt number with their own Instagram post where Konate posed in the new 2021/22 away jersey.
The Frenchman recently voiced his excitement at joining the Reds from the Bundesliga runners-up and playing in the Premier League.

He told the official club website: “I’m really happy to be joining such a massive club like Liverpool.
“It’s a really exciting moment for me and my family and I am really looking forward to meeting my new team-mates, the staff and getting started on this new chapter.
“I know I will be joining one of the best teams in the world and that gives me a great feeling.
“I have worked very hard for many years to get to this point.
"But I would like to say a big thank you to everyone at RB Leipzig."
