BBC and ITV confirm Euro 2024 fixtures with England and Scotland games decided

The BBC and ITV have confirmed their match picks for Euro 2024 next summer, with England’s opening game against Serbia set to be shown live on the BBC. Gareth Southgate’s men are among the early favourites to win the tournament, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14.

England’s first two games against Serbia and Denmark will be shown on the BBC, while their final group stage match against Slovenia is set to be broadcast live on ITV. If the Three Lions make it through to the knockout stages, their last-16 tie is likely to be shown on ITV with the channel having been given first choice of those fixtures.

Scotland will also be involved at the tournament after qualifying for back-to-back Euro finals for the first time since 1996. They will be in action for the opening game of the competition against hosts Germany, which will be shown on ITV, while their other group fixtures against Switzerland and Hungary will be on the BBC.

Wales, meanwhile, could still qualify for Euro 2024 through the play-offs after being drawn against Finland in the semi-finals. If they make it to the tournament, their first two group stage matches against France and the Netherlands will be broadcast live on the BBC.

The BBC will also have first choice for the quarter-finals, while ITV will have the first pick of the last-16 fixtures and the semi finals. As usual, both channels will show the final, which will be played in Berlin on July 14.

Philip Bernie, the BBC’s head of TV sport, said: “With the UEFA European Championships, the Paris Olympics and Wimbledon all on the BBC next year, our summer of sport promises to be very memorable.

“In addition to live games featuring all the tournament favourites, we are very pleased to have two games each for England and Scotland in the group stages, and we hope to add two more for Wales if they qualify too. We’re proud that the BBC will once again bring audiences comprehensive coverage and analysis of the whole event across TV, radio and online, ensuring fans, wherever they are, can enjoy it all.”

Niall Sloane, ITV director of sport, added: “Following the draw, we can now begin to look forward to next summer’s Euros in Germany and we’re delighted to be able to bring viewers what should be a flying start to the tournament with the opening match between Scotland and the hosts.

“We have first picks of the round of 16 and the semi-finals and with England among the favourites, we hope to be able to bring viewers their biggest moments from what could be an historic tournament for them. We’ll be announcing our comprehensive coverage plans in full in the lead-up to next June with the aim of bringing viewers the very best of Euro 2024.”
