Bayern Munich have reportedly agreed to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez for £68million this summer.

The German champions are looking to bolster their ranks for the upcoming season and have identified Niguez as the man to fill the hole in midfield left by Thiago Alcantara.

And a big-money move looks set to be completed after Bayern agreed to part ways with the huge fee for the 26-year-old, who has fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone this season.

According to Radio Marca, Atletico will look to immediately reinvest that money back into securing his replacement, with Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul their main target.

Udinese have recently warned potential suitors that they will not accept any bid lower than £35m for the Argentine this summer.

However, Radio Marca’s report goes on to claim that the Spanish champions will use half of the £68m they will receive for Niguez to fund a move for De Paul.

Niguez has been linked with the exit at the Wanda Metropolitano for months now, after failing to nail down a regular starting spot this season.

Saul came through the youth ranks at Atleti and helped the club with LaLiga this season

While he made 33 appearances in LaLiga, only 12 of those he played the full 90 minutes and it appears his 13-year association with the club is coming to an end.

The Spaniard is widely-regarded as one of the top midfielders in Europe having come through the Atleti ranks and was linked with a £70m move to Manchester United earlier in the season.

In his time at Atleti, he has won two LaLiga titles, two Europa League titles as well as the UEFA and Spanish Super Cups.

Saul was also part of the Atleti side who finished as Champions League runners-up to Real Madrid in 2016. He currently has four years left on his Atletico deal.

Meanwhile, De Paul is viewed as the perfect candidate to replace Niguez should he leave.

De Paul has been at Udinese since 2016 and has just over three years remaining on his contract.

The 27-year-old, who is also a key target for Leeds, has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s elite clubs.

Milan are also reportedly monitoring fe Paul, who produced some impressive performances this season.
