Arsenal have been told to pursue a transfer move for one of target Ruben Neves’ team-mates, who it is said has the right “mentality”. The Gunners are reportedly in talks to bring Neves to the Emirates Stadium from Premier League rivals Wolves.
But now, club legend Sol Campbell, who won two titles during his spell, believes that his former side should also launch a bid for Neves’ team-mate Conor Coady.
The Gunners have a new centre-back on their summer window shopping list after allowing David Luiz to depart on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old has impressed at the heart of the Wolves defence over recent seasons, earning a call-up to the England national team.
Though it was a disappointing season for the Midlands club, Coady once again shone, missing only one league match in the entire season.

While the Gunners had the third-best defensive record in the top-flight in the campaign just gone, they have looked shaky at the back at times.
Their current central defensive options heading into next season are Gabriel, Rob Holding, Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers.
But Campbell believes that group should be boosted with the signing of Coady, who he believes is exactly the type of player Mikel Arteta is looking for.
“There’s a lot of players out there who can fit the Arsenal mould,” said Campbell, who was speaking to Ladbrokes at the launch of their new European Championships 5-a-side Bet.

“Conor Coady is a good player; he’s comfortable on the ball, he’s a winner. He’s definitely got the kind of mentality Arsenal should be looking at in new players.
“He’s definitely someone they should look at because he’s so solid, he wants to defend. He can pass as well, he’s quick, he’s strong, he’s good in the air.
“He’s a good all-rounder and he’s got a bit about him.
“He’s at a good club now in Wolves, but he’s actually someone I’d be looking at for Arsenal this summer. He’s got a great attitude as well, and I like that.”
A deal for Coady may prove difficult to pull off though, with the Englishman having a contract until the summer of 2025.
But with Wolves looking to conduct a squad rebuild once they appoint a new manager, the defender is one of their most sellable assets.
The Gunners are exploring options from other European leagues in their search for a new centre-back.
Both Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde have been linked with a move to the Emirates, with Coady now joining that list.
