Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could fight as early as September after talks

Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua is being explored as a possibility for a September showdown after shock talks this week.

The Gypsy King has teased a fight in Australia in the last few days but it is understood that his team have reached out to Eddie Hearn about taking on fellow Brit Joshua in a mega-money showdown.

Joshua is open to escalating discussions but he also has a huge money offer from Saudi Arabia to face Deontay Wilder in December.

WBC champion Fury is also set to be made a lucrative deal to face WBA, IBF and WBO title holder Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East this winter. But Queensberry Promotions are also open to making Fury against Joshua in an all-British showdown first.

Joshua’s camp are willing to enter talks and would push for the fight should the discussions about Wilder in Saudi fall through. George Warren and Hearn have had initial discussions about reviving a deal that was already discussed and close to agreement for last December.

The noise will further excite but also enrage boxing fans who have grown frustrated with the constant ‘on and off’ dynamic around the two fighters for the last three years.

Fury is keen to fight this summer but has not been able to fund a suitable opponent. Joshua was eager to also box before August but was then offered huge money to take on former WBC champion Wilder in December so cooled his plans.

Hearn was still pushing for his man to face Dillian Whyte this August but now this offer gives them a further option.

Fury has not yet indicated what his preference is but Joshua is understood to be ready to take a fight with the Gypsy King if a deal can be struck.
