Arsenal risk seeing Man Utd capitalising on £30m move after Declan Rice signs

Football Digest: Reaction to Granit Xhaka's departure from Arsenal

Arsenal are running the risk of Manchester United snapping up one of Mikel Arteta’s stars this summer in Thomas Partey. The Gunners are reportedly ready to sell the Ghanaian amid contract issues, with Juventus and Saudi Arabia previously thought to be the frontrunners for his signature.

However, The Sun have claimed that Erik ten Hag is showing an interest in Partey, while Arsenal are prepared to let him leave this summer. The 30-year-old has just two years left on his current contract at the Emirates, if they are unable to come to terms on a new deal then this summer may be the perfect time to get a reasonable transfer fee for the midfielder.

Arsenal are set to complete the £105million signing of Declan Rice once the final touches on the deal are sealed and he has undergone a medical, further waining Partey’s influence on the team potentially and making the Gunners more open to a sale.

It was thought that Partey would move abroad as Juventus and Saudi Arabia had emerged as the contenders, but CBS Sports have reported that the midfielder has informed interested clubs in the Middle East that he is not considering a move to the region.

He is said to prefer a move to Juventus and initial talks have taken place, but whether the Serie A side are willing to meet Arsenal’s asking price upwards of £30m. If Juventus are not prepared to pay that fee, perhaps United are – resulting in Ten Hag’s interest.

The Red Devils are hamstrung this summer as a result of their ongoing takeover process and Financial Fair Play concerns, but are considering the possibility of signing a second midfielder after their £55m deal for Mason Mount – with Sofian Amrabat of Fiorentina thought to be the other name considered.

Arsenal’s new kit for 2023/2024 is a stylish twist on a classic as it reinvents that mid-1990s vibe. A truly modern-looking shirt with a homage to the past, the Nike kit also includes a nod to the club’s iconic Invincible’s side in the finer details while catching the eye with the lightning bolt motif

Arsenal likely would prefer not to strengthen a Premier League rival such as United by selling Partey to them, but if their offer is the best one on the table then Arteta and sporting director Edu would have to consider it.

Partey has now returned from his summer break and is back in pre-season training, where he will hold conversations with the Arsenal chiefs in order to discuss a potential sale. He could follow Granit Xhaka out of the door with the Swiss star finalising a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

With Rice set to bolster Arteta’s midfield options, a second midfielder is being targeted and with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo deemed too expensive – Romeo Lavia is the candidate to aid the likes of Rice and Martin Odegaard in midfield, though they face competition from Liverpool and Chelsea for the Southampton starlet.
