Arsenal Europa League failure hasn’t dampened Daniel Ek’s takeover enthusiasm

Daniel Ek is reportedly still interested in taking over Arsenal, despite the Gunners falling short in the Europa League to Villarreal on Thursday evening.

News broke last month – following the announcement of the European Super League – that Spotify's co-founder, Ek, alongside a consortium, was interested in taking over the North London side.

Arsenal were dumped out of the Europa League by former boss Unai Emery, and they could be left without guaranteed European football next season, for the first time in 25 years.

However, according to a report by Sky Sports, Ek is still committed to the takeover.

Arsenal, who currently sit in ninth, were banking on Europa League victory as their route into European football next season.

However, following their elimination, the Gunners, currently, don't have a clear road into Europe.

But that won't stop Ek, according to Arsenal legend – and consortium member – Thierry Henry.

"One thing that I want to reiterate is that Daniel will not move away, he will be there waiting to see if they want to sell.

"That is going to take a very long time, we know what we want to do, but first and foremost we need to make sure that we can take over if they are listening," Henry said on Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

Arsenal's current owner, Stan Kroenke, owns Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), has been Arsenal's owner since 2011 and he has repeatably rebuffed any claims that he is selling up.
