Arsenal braced for departures as Torreira, Nketiah and Saliba could leave
After a disappointing season that ended with Arsenal not qualifying for Europe entirely, Mikel Arteta’s side have an important summer ahead as they look to rebuild their squad.
Some of the positives of last season was that they were able to integrate academy players like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe into the side, and they will look to purchase quality players to improve them.
There will be some departures, however, with Granit Xhaka the most likely to leave North London and others such as William Saliba may go too.
Despite that, there is plenty to do for Arsenal as they aim to return to the higher places on the Premier League table next season.
Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Arsenal’s latest transfer news below.
Torreira interest from Italy
According to Il Tempo, Lazio are preparing to accelerate their efforts to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The Uruguayan player has been looking to leave the club having spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Lazio are willing to pay €15m in two instalments for Torreira, but Arsenal are holding out for a €20m fee.
Nketiah may leave
According to Arsenal journalist Charles Watts, Eddie Nketiah looks set to leave the club, with chances in the first-team limited.
The player refused to sign a contract extension and with competition ahead of him, he looks set to depart.
Watts said in his personal podcast: “Basically, Eddie is for sale; there were talks about getting him to sign a new contract, and if that was the case he probably would have gone out on loan next season with Arsenal hoping he’d have a good season and his value would have gone up and they would have sold him the following year for more money.
Should Arsenal have given Eddie Nketiah more chances to prove himself? Let us know in the comments below.
Saliba departure possible
Amidst rumours that Ben White could be joining Arsenal, William Saliba could be leaving the club.
The defender officially signed in 2019 but didn’t join the club until a year later and is yet to play a league game for the Gunners.
There have been rumours of a loan spell to Newcastle, but a permanent move is more likely, according to the Daily Express.
