5 first-team Man Utd stars set for contract extension as current deals near end
Manchester United are set to trigger the one-year contract extension options for David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Fred, and Marcus Rashford.
All five United stars are currently in the final year of their deals at Old Trafford. Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag’s side is believed to be interested in extending their stays on the red side of Manchester by a further 12 months.
The future of all five players has been uncertain in recent months, but the additional year on offer will at least prevent any of them from departing the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

That is according to reports from the Manchester Evening News, who understand all five players are valued by the Red Devils. An air of uncertainty descended upon Rashford’s future in the tail end of the recent transfer window.
Various sources claimed the Englishman appeared on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain. The 24-year-old’s agent, Dwaine Maynard reportedly met with officials from the French giants last month, barely three weeks before the transfer window was set to close.
However, the picture is far brighter from Rashford’s point of view, as he looks to have rediscovered his best form, contributing three goals and two assists in his last four appearances. The one-year extension will at least offer United some breathing room and time to negotiate a new deal, should both parties want to commit their future to each other.

The MEN also claim United are yet to open discussions with the aforementioned players about the prospect of signing a new long term contract at the club. All focus gravitated towards recruitment and new signings this summer to help refresh a side that could only record a meek sixth place finish in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the future of De Gea was also becoming a growing uncertainty, particularly with his poor start to the new campaign. He is the second highest earner at the club after Cristiano Ronaldo, and remains United’s No.1 goalkeeper, despite some early struggles this season.
Moreover, Shaw’s long term future appears to be up in the air, having been displaced by summer signing Tyrell Malacia. On the other hand, his opposite number Dalot is a more relaxed prospect, having established himself as United’s first choice right-back under Ten Hag.
