Pendlebury re-injures leg, needs surgery
Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury has re-injured the leg he fractured this year and will need a plate inserted.
Pendlebury suffered a knock in training on Friday with X-rays later confirming another hairline fracture in the lower leg.
He will have surgery to insert a plate in the leg in the next 36 hours and will miss two weeks’ training. With only two weeks left of pre-season this year he will resume after the break in 2022.

The knock was to the same part of the leg that Pendlebury injured in round 19 against Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium, which ended his season. On that occasion Pendlebury suffered a knock when kicking and ran from the ground feeling some discomfort. X-rays later confirmed a hairline fracture.
“Although frustrating for Scott, this is a minor setback,” Collingwood football manager Graham Wright said.
“Given his previous injury we are being cautious. He will need a minimal amount of time off his legs but will be fine to go when the program returns to training in the new year.”
