Randy lovers caught having sex on Monaco balcony as Grand Prix took place below

Offbeat news from the world of sport

F1 returns to France for the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday – four years after a randy couple were caught romping on a balcony above the infamous track.

The likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel all made the podium in the Principality, but they weren't the only ones in the area who were revving their engines judging by the saucy antics up on the balcony of the five-star Hermitage Hotel in Monte-Carlo.

Unsurprisingly, the video of the naked couple's steamy romp – which took place above a party in the courtyard – went viral. The duo appeared to increased their speed to the sound of the blaring dance music below, with guests at the £17,000 per night hotel left totally bemused.

The woman did realise that they had been spotted and look down from the balcony to giggle at the crowd. The pair's performance last for about 40 seconds before they headed back inside to their room.

The raunchy scenes were quite a contract to the lavish surroundings at the Hermitage. It is located in the heart of the prestigious Carre d'Or district, just a minute away from the main square of casinos, opera and designer shops.

On its website, the hotel claims to "epitomize a certain carefree elegance at the highest level". The Hermitage was built in the early 1900s and offers an "intimate, relaxed atmosphere".
