Lando Norris says he is “doing well” and is focused on this weekend’s British Grand Prix after being mugged outside Wembley on Sunday. Norris was attacked by two men and had a watch worth £40,000 stolen following England’s Euro 2020 final defeat on penalties by Italy.
The incident happened in Wembley’s car park after England were beaten 3-2 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw in the tournament’s finale.
The 21-year-old had a watch given to him by McLaren taken and was “understandably shaken”, according to a statement issued by his team.
The mugging was witnessed and is now being investigated by police, who made 53 arrests at Wembley after a series of security breaches on Sunday.
Norris watched the game as a guest inside a corporate box at Wembley before being caught up in the trouble which sadly overshadowed the match.
He is fourth in the Drivers’ Championship heading into the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend and he says is looking forward to getting back to racing.

“Thanks for all the messages everyone,” he wrote on Instagram.
“Thought I’d let you know that I’m doing well and trying to make sure I’m ready and in the right zone for this weekend to perform at my best.
“Love you all and can’t wait to see so many of you back at the track this weekend x.”
Norris is a big football fan and is friendly with several of the England players who played against Italy on Sunday.
McLaren had previously acknowledged the mugging in a statement released before Norris’ post on social media.

“McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken,” they said in a statement.
“Thankfully, Lando was unharmed but he is understandably shaken. The team is supporting Lando and we are sure that racing fans will join us in wishing him all the best for the British Grand Prix this weekend.
“As this is now a police matter we cannot comment further.”
Norris finished third at the Austrian Grand Prix on July 4 to move within three points of Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in the standings.
That was the Briton’s third podium finish so far this season. He will be looking to build on his recent good form when the British Grand Prix gets underway on Friday ahead of Sunday’s race.
