Hamilton’s blunt response to Norris as Brit arrives late to press conference
F1: A lap of the British Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton issued a simple message to Lando Norris as the McLaren star turned up late to a post-race press conference at the British Grand Prix. Norris wasn’t in his seat as the press conference began with Hamilton and Verstappen starting without the British ace.
F1 interviewer Tom Clarkson confirmed Norris was absent as he had three more TV interviews to complete. It came after Norris secured his first podium of the season and his maiden top-three finish at the British Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver eventually made his way into the media centre, walking in front of Hamilton as he took his space on the sofa. Norris’ arrival interrupted attention away from Hamilton’s answer with the Mercedes star issuing a prompt as he arrived.
Hamilton simply said “welcome” before continuing to discuss Mercedes’ result at the Grand Prix. Norris appeared to react to the comment with the 23-year-old beaming as he took his slot on the sofa.

McLaren were the surprise package at Silverstone with the British manufacturer securing their best result of the season. Norris took an early lead at the start of the race after a wheelspin denied Max Verstappen the perfect getaway.
The Dutchman promptly re-passed the Briton but the McLaren held on to the back of the Red Bull during the early stages. Oscar Piastri also secured P4 to record the best result of his F1 career in his debut season.
Hamilton admitted McLaren had the better package on Sunday but issued a challenge to his Mercedes mechanics to bridge the gap.

When asked if McLaren were quicker over the three days, Hamilton replied: “Yes, 100 per cent, and last week but this is the first time in a long time but they deserve it. We’ve got to do a better job. They’ve now done a better job than us.
“All I will say this is one of the most exciting times we have seen in the sport where we are finally starting to see the regulations pull people closer. The other day we‘ve seen the Williams are up there, we’ve seen the McLarens now and the Astons.
“So we have a lot of the teams getting very very close, small gaps in qualifying which is exactly what we need.”
