Offbeat news from the world of sport
Carlos Sainz was left pleading for help as his FerrariFormula One car erupted into flames during the Austrian Grand Prix.
The Spaniard's car suddenly halted while he closely pursued title rival Max Verstappen on lap 57 at the Red Bull ring. A furious Sainz, who had been eyeing a podium finish in third, drove his car to a safe point off-track before even more disaster struck.
The 27-year-old yelled: "Engine, engine. No, no, no, no," but was seemingly unaware that his Ferrari had started to catch fire. The flames began on the rear of his vehicle but quickly engulfed the rest of it while Sainz remained seated.
