Novak Djokovic’s wife Jelena suggested 5G caused pandemic

The wife of Wimbledon 2022 finalist Novak Djokovic shared an controversial video that suggested the coronavirus pandemic was caused by 5G.

Jelena Djokovic shared a video at the beginning of the pandemic when so many things were still unknown about the virus that suggested that the entire pandemic was a result of 5G. The conspiracy theory video was uploaded on April 1, 2020 and has been viewed more than 100,000 times with the caption "What do you think of coronavirus?".

The video caused a lot of drama at the time and even forced Instagram to put a "false information" disclaimer on the video. Her hubby has also refused to get a Covid-19 vaccine, limiting the tournaments he can take part in going forward.

In a statement published by Essentially Sport, Jelena Djokovic clarified her position after she shared the video. She wrote: "Steiner’s philosophy and work on biodynamic agriculture have encouraged me to learn more, which I have devoted myself to in recent months. So, it makes sense to me, I’m not claiming to be true or not, but I’m certainly interested in learning and getting informed about it.”

Just days before she issued the statement, it had been reported that Djokovic was opposed to the possibility of covid vaccinations at the time, with it reported at the time that he was "opposed to vaccination."

In a jaw-dropping interview with the BBC earlier this year, the tennis legend even revealed he would rather concede his status as the GOAT of tennis than be forced to get the vaccine, with the Serbian missing out on the Australian Open and as a result he missed out on a chance of winning what would have been a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam. The star didn't rule out getting the jab but didn't want to be forced into getting it.

Djokovic said at the time: "The principles of decision making on my body are more important than any title or anything else," Djokovic said. "I’m trying to be in tune with my body as much as I possibly can."

"I was never against vaccination," he added, confirming that he'd had vaccines as a child, "but I've always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body."
