Is Kyler Murray playing Week 10? Fantasy injury update for Panthers-Cardinals

Kyler Murray was a game-time decision last week before ultimately being ruled inactive. Officially listed as “questionable,” he’s in much the same situation in Week 10 for the Cardinals’ late-afternoon matchup against Carolina. In addition to frantically checking for news about Murray’s injury, fantasy football owners are undoubtedly wondering if they should even wait to find out if he’s playing before making their start ’em, sit ’em decision at QB. We’ll break it all down and continue to provide the latest updates on Murray below.

We’ll have the latest on Murray up until the official active/inactive report comes out on Sunday around 2:35 pm ET. For all the latest fantasy updates, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

Is Kyler Murray playing Week 10?

Murray (ankle) didn’t play last week and sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he managed to get in a limited session on Friday and is “questionable” ahead of Sunday’s late-afternoon game against the Panthers. Cadinals coach Kliff Kingsbury has already said Murray will be a “game-time decision.”

WEEK 10 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

It’s tough to imagine sitting Murray if he’s active, even if DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is out. Murray is too dynamic of a player in too dynamic of an offense. The Panthers are a solid defense, allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs, but if the Cardinals feel Murray is healthy enough to play, you should, too.

WEEK 10 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

The real issue is whether you should even wait to see if Murray is active. With Arizona playing a late-afternoon game, there aren’t a ton of widely available QB pivots. P.J. Walker, Teddy Bridgewater, Colt McCoy, and Jimmy Garoppolo are likely your only options. Any of the three could be decent enough this week, but you’re definitely taking a huge risk. Bridgewater has the highest floor and Walker might have the highest ceiling (despite having the lowest floor). McCoy is probably somewhere in the middle and the easiest to “handcuff” to Murray.

Ultimately, we’d recommend waiting unless you can get an especially “safe,” high-upside QB in the early games (Carson Wentz? Matt Ryan?). If those types of players aren’t available, grab a late-game backup and hope that Murray is active. These situations are never easy, so the best you can do is make sure you’re prepared.
