Expert names surprise contender to make huge NFL Draft leap for QB
There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Tennessee Titans in the NFL, with star running-back Derrick Henry a rumoured trade candidate despite the franchise’s claim to the contrary. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is also nearing the end of his contract, but a trusted expert had predicted the Titans could be contenders to make a major statement and jump up the Draft order this off-season.
The 2023 NFL Draft is just weeks away, with the likes of C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Anderson Jr. and Bijan Robinson set to be some of the top picks. Currently the Carolina Panthers have first pick after reaching a deal over DJ Moore with the Chicago Bears, with the Titans set to pick 11th.
However, according to NFL.com’s lead Draft expert Daniel Jeremiah that could change with the Titans targeting a much higher Draft pick. It’s thought that the Arizona Cardinals could be open for business and exchange their position at number three for the right offer, and Jeremiah thinks that the Titans could go for it.
Making such a move would suggest that the Titans are looking for a new quarterback, one to take over from Tannehill who’s nearing the end of his reign. And with Henry yet to be traded, the running-back could play a major part too.

“Can I give you the team that I have been told to keep an eye on that’s exploring this and looking into this?” Jeremiah stated on his Move the Sticks podcast. “Again, this is just people around the league who said, ‘do not sleep on Numero 11’. The Tennessee Titans.”
Jeremiah is one of the most respected Draft experts out there, and believes that the Titans could increase their position ahead of the Draft on April 27. The Cardinals may be the ideal team to do business with, and they already have a connection with the franchise.
The Cardinals hired Monti Osssenfort as their new general manager this winter, with the 45-year-old coming from the Titans after spending the last three seasons as their director of player personnel. The Titans also have a new GM in Ran Carthon, and both franchises are looking to rebuild.
With Kyler Murray at the Cardinals, a quarterback isn’t their focus right now, although his injuries will be a concern. But should they do business with the Titans they could secure a first-round pick for 2024, while gaining a later pick in the 2023 Draft.
Tannehill is entering the final year of his four-year, £94.5million ($118m) deal with the Titans, but after delivering stunning back-to-back regular seasons in 2020 and 2021, they struggled in the last campaign. With the Tannehill-Henry offense coming to an end, it’s probably time to start rebuilding now for the Titans.
Jeremiah thinks it could happen, but they’re quickly running out of time to sort a deal. It’s believed that the Cardinals are definitely open to the idea, but the Titans would have to offer a healthy package and a number of other times could yet force their way into the mix.
