Costly Commonwealth Games grub slammed as chips are ‘uncooked’ with solo sausage

Sports fans have been left gobsmacked at the price of sausage and chips at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

One Twitter user took to the social media platform to share a snap of the meal. He said: "Hello @FootyScran, this is the sausage and chips I had at the Sandwell Leisure Centre ahead of tonight's swimming events at @birminghamcg22. This cost £9.80!"

However, fans were quick to rip into the price and the 'undercooked' chips that could be seen in the photo. However, the user defended the purchase: "It's a lot I grant you, but the chips were tasty and the sausage was apparently an award winner!"

One joked: "Did they actually fry those… fries, or did they just thaw them out?"

"Do u have to pay more to get the chips cooked," a second joked. And a third added: "Call the police. There’s been a robbery in Birmingham."

A fourth added: "£9.80! And there is a load of chippies within the area that would be so much less, especially for that! And be much nicer. I don’t know why they always have to take advantage."
