Khabib Nurmagomedov has teased fans over a return to the octagon after telling Dana White to ‘send me location’ after meeting up with former UFC chief Lorenzo Fertitta.

The Dagestani, 32, announced his retirement from the sport following his victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, hanging up his gloves with an impeccable record of 29 wins, zero defeats.

Nurmagomedov has long been linked with a return to the UFC, with fans hopeful that the prospect of taking his record to a perfect 30 will entice him to make a stunning comeback.

The Eagle has cited a vow to his mother not to continue fighting following the death of his father, Abdulmanap, to Covid-19 as the reason for his retirement.

However, Nurmagomedov has stirred hope among fans that he could be contemplating a return after sharing an image of himself with former UFC CEO Fertitta on social media.

‘It was good to see you Lorenzo. Dana White, send me location,’ Nurmagomedov tweeted.

‘Send me location’ is the Dagestani’s go-to phrase, first quipped when he called out Conor McGregor in the build up to their UFC 229 clash.

White still holds slim hope that he can convince Nurmagomedov to return to the octagon. The UFC supremo has refused to strip The Eagle of his lightweight title despite entering his sixth month as a retired fighter.

The 51-year-old revealed before McGregor’s fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 that Nurmagomedov would return if he was impressed by a ‘spectacular’ performance.

However, the Dagestani doubled down on his retirement stance following Poirier’s win over the Irishman, insisting that his lightweight rivals are ‘nowhere near’ his level.

In the meantime, Nurmagomedov is putting full focus on helping his Dagestani ‘brothers’ ascend to the summit of the UFC.

The 32-year-old believes team-mate and fellow Dagestani Islam Makhachev is the future of the 155-pound division, predicting that the 29-year-old will be champion by early 2021.

The future of the lightweight division remains uncertain, with Poirier’s UFC 257 victory all-but cementing his shot at the title next. According to reports Stateside, contenders Gaethje and Michael Chandler are set to meet later this year.
