Conor McGregor has officially revealed his highly-anticipated trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier will take place at UFC 264 in July.

Taking to Instagram to confirm the news, McGregor wrote: ‘The fight is booked! July 10th you’re gonna see what the Mac is about. Adjust and absolutely f***ing destroy!’

It was announced this weekend that Poirier signed up to face off against McGregor once again after his stunning knockout triumph in January.

With the hard-hitting duo locked at one win apiece, the showdown in just a few months will help settle their mouth-watering feud in the octagon.

It was widely reported the two lightweight contenders will be the main attraction at the showpiece – which is likely to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

There is a hope that, with an agreement in place and excitement among the fanbase building, that spectators will be able to attend.

The winner of the scrap will be afforded a title shot against the victor from Michael Chandler’s fight against Charles Oliveira in May.

The latest indications were that McGregor verbally agreed to take on Poirier again and has been training hard in Dubai to ensure he is in peak shape.

His confirmation that the third encounter will now happen has rubber-stamped what is expected to be one of the most lucrative deals in UFC history.

The talks to stage the blockbuster repeat were ongoing after Poirier devastated McGregor with a formidable second round knockout win earlier this year.

McGregor will hope for revenge after Poirier superbly sent him crashing down on Fight Island

UFC president Dana White insisted he wants the trilogy bout to be a headline staple this summer – with coronavirus restrictions loosening in some parts of the world.

It is unlikely to disappoint, with McGregor out for revenge having been sent crashing down during the rematch at 155lbs.

The outspoken Irishman won the first fight with Poirier at 145lbs back in 2014.

The upcoming spectacle is expected to be a five-round main event, again at 155lbs, at UFC 264.
