WARWICK FARM

BEST BET

Race 6, No. 8: LE GAI SOLEIL

This mare thrives first-up with two wins and a third from three runs. She’ll like the sting out of the ground and should come home hard.

NEXT BEST

Race 3, No. 3: TOSCANINI

He’s got superior form to most in this race and is very fit now, He’s a horse with more wins in him.

VALUE BET

Race 8, No. 7: ACROPHOBIC

He’s going to find this easier than what he took on last time in when running very well in a few Stakes races.

TRAINER TO WATCH

It has the be the recent Golden Slipper winning trainers Richard and Michael Freedman who have Fabulous Choice, Alakahan and Juan Diva going around.

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Kerrin McEvoy has good rides like Chianti, Fabulous Choice and Rubamos who looks a little overs in the second race.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WARWICK FARM

RACE 1

Poor barriers for first starters aren’t great but the latest trial of Fabulous Choice was and if Kerrin McEvoy can find a good sport early this horse looks to have the talent to be in the finish. Turgenev looked very strong as his last trial went on, suggesting 1200m on debut is a good distance for him. Fire trialled behind Turgenev and looked very good through the line in a typical Team Hawkes trial and he’s got the gate to be in the ideal position in the run and if he’s good enough he can strike. Lease has the form on the board.

Bet: Fabulous Choice to win

RACE 2

James Cummings as thrown the blinkers on Raoul for the first time and his fitness won’t be an issue here. He’s certainly knocking on the door. Captivare was good enough in town last time in and trialled up like he’s ready to go to another level this preparation. Egao likes to be positive but has an awkward gate do her first 200m will be vital under a new jockey in Jason Collett while Rubamos looked good in a trial behind Air To Air who ran a super race on Saturday in a Group event. It’s a competitive race.

Bet: Rubamos each way

RACE 3

Toscanini looks ready to win now after dropping in grade and he’s third-up off a freshen up and will run out the trip. He nearly won the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) in the summer. It’s his race to win. Stablemate Heart Of Puissance looks a threat after he came home well over 1550m last start off a freshen up and that would’ve topped him off for this and Hugh Bowman sticks. Alakahan is battle hardened now and will run this trip right out for an in-form stable. War Baron and Shangani Patrol are the other hopes.

Bet: Toscanini to win

RACE 4

Blesk has been flying home this time in from the back of the field in shorter races so the mile looks ideal now and it’s the first time he’s race over the trip so there’s no doubt there will be excitement from the stable. Highmaster should be in a slightly more prominent position now at a distance he’ll appreciate after a win and a third from two runs at 1600m. Aoraki is first-up at a mile which I like. He did ran a close enough second over this trip last time in behind Lion’s Roar who went on to win a Group 1 and he’ll stalk them and look to pounce late.

Bet: Quinella 6, 8

RACE 5

Eleusa hasn’t run worse than second in four career runs to date. They have been at provincial level but she has the racing pattern to do well at her first crack at a mile. See how well Heart Of Puissance runs earlier in the day because Dundee Lee beat it home last start on the Kenso and she has an attractive racing pattern but a poor gate so she’ll need to get luck in the first 200m. Darling Diamond ran a close fifth in a Group 3 race last start and the previous form was very strong. Her career record isn’t flash but the form is.

Bet: Darling Diamond to win

RACE 6

Le Gai Soleil has a great record to date and an even better first-up record. She’ll get enough sting out of the ground to perform to her best. Saigon flew home to just miss out first-up and she’s a Saturday-class horse who is looking for a midweek win during carnival time and she tends to hold her form second-up and produces on soft ground. Phemonoe won last time but would’ve been beaten in another stride. She gets an inside draw and will like slightly more ground. Cristal Breeze is a good chance but does have the Provincial Championships Final to run in next start.

Bet: Le Gai Soleil to win

Trainer Kris Lees has promising filly Chianti ready to resume with a win. Picture: Vince Caligiuri/Getty ImagesSource:Getty Images

RACE 7

Ocean Emperor likes his runs spaced and gets that again at his home track and gets the perfect gate to race on the speed without doing much work. Tough to beat. Chianti is undefeated first-up and had won both trials leading into this and looked good doing it. She’s also won at the track. Plaquette’s best form is good enough to be winning this and she’s won fresh. Sunborn trialled up great and her form is in Group races. Rainbow Connection is the X-factor horse.

Bet: Chianti to win

RACE 8

Green Flash got better as the race went on when he debuted with a win and he’s well-bred. James McDonald rode him that day but is on a different Chris Waller horse this time around, The Grinder. He’s an import who trialled like he’s ready to run well fresh. Quiet Riot is a horse on the rise and will look to jump and cross them. Acrophobic has been thrown in the deep end early but hasn’t disgraced himself and gets an easier race to win first-up where he has a good record.

Bet: Acrophobic to win
