Dimension worth a mention for Morgan in Tamworth

Just two days into the new season, and Tamworth’s leading stable has taken on an extra dimension ahead of Tuesday’s home meeting – literally.

Lightly raced ex-Victorian four-year-old Dimension arrives in the NSW New England region some 18 weeks after his last start at Yarra Valley when in the Anthony Freedman stable.

He now steps out for recently crowned club “Trainer of the Year” Cody Morgan in a competitive Class 2 dash over 1000m behind a nice even trial 11 days ago.

And this could well be a strong formline pushing on to deeper and bigger races, with the relatively small field boasting more than handy strike rates.

Dimension, a strapping son of Kiwi staying sire Dundeel and out of a Mossman mare, won impressively on debut at Mornington in early January.

Then just a month later he was placed in a much stronger Benchmark 64 at The Valley carrying 59kg before disappointing next start in a similar graded race at Sandown.

But now comfortably homed in the “epicentre” of NSW country racing, Dimension resumes his career with blinkers off for the first time, and leading country pilot Aaron Bullock in the saddle.

The same trainer-rider combination then combines in the final race – BM 66 Handicap over 1200m – with tough and consistent six-year-old Warrah Flash.

The often luckless son of Group 2-winning Salade is primed to win his fourth race at his 25th start, and break a drought that stretches back to a Highway win in November 2020 when still in the Stephen Jones stable at Scone.

Mind you, Warrah Flash has done everything but win for the Morgan yard, beating all but the winner in three of his four starts since mid April, twice going under by a head or less.

The gelding looked in good order trialling strongly here 11 days ago, finishing a touch in front of his new stablemate Dimension.
