Maxwell’s hilarious reaction to ‘insane’ moment

Glenn Maxwell has taken inspiration from the great Virat Kohli, reluctantly leaving the field despite being clean bowled in the Indian Premier League on Friday evening.

Representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Maxwell was dismissed by Punjab Kings debutant Harpreet Brar for a dreaded golden duck.

Brar’s delivery pitched on a good length before straightening and clipping the top of off stump.

But the bamboozled Australian could hardly believe what had transpired, standing his ground and staring down the pitch.

Replays showed the ball had clearly made contact with the stumps, and Maxwell eventually made his way back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.

“He looks bemused, puzzled,” Indian cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle said in commentary.

WOWWWWWWW ????
What a dream game this is turning out to be for HARPREET BRAR @thisisbrar
Kohli BOLD & then MAXWELL BOLD ?
INSANE! ??? #PBKSvRCB

And now ABD too ? what a day for young Brar!

Chasing 180 for victory, the Royal Challengers suddenly found themselves 3/62 with superstar batters Kohli and Maxwell back in the sheds.

Bangalore ultimately fell 34 runs short of the target as the Kings clinched a comfortable win — Brar also removed Kohli and South African great AB de Villiers during the run chase.

Earlier in the 20-over contest, Punjab captain KL Rahul hammered an unbeaten 91 to help the Kings register 5/179.

West Indies icon Chris Gayle smacked a quick-fire 46 off 24 balls, while New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson chipped in with two wickets.

Maxwell’s wicket was oddly reminiscent of Moeen Ali’s dismissal of Kohli in the recent Test series between England and India.

During the second Test in Chennai, Ali bowled the Indian skipper through the gate with a peach that turned sharply off the dusty deck.

Kohli was utterly stunned, staring blankly towards teammate Rohit Sharma and inquiring whether the stumps were disturbed by England wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.

It was the first time a spinner had dismissed Kohli for a duck in international cricket.
