UFC star demands £42,000 bonus after surviving brutal spinning kick to the groin
UFC star Joshua Culibao demanded a whopping £42,000 bonus for surviving a brutal spinning kick to the groin in his victory against Melsik Baghdasaryan.
Culibao and Baghdasaryan slugged it out at UFC 284. And before Culibao won the fight with a rear-naked choke in the second round, he had to overcome a gruesome boot to the groin courtesy of Baghdasaryan.
As the pair locked horns in the first round of the match in Perth, Australia, Baghdasaryan slammed his heel into Culibao's crown jewels, causing the 28-year-old to crash to the canvas in pain. However, the resilient Culibao only needed a fraction of the five minutes given to fighters to recover from low bows to get back in the game, despite telling his corner he was struggling for breath.

After shaking off the brutal blow, the Aussie wowed his home supporters when he choked Baghdasaryan into submission in the ensuing round. But not content with the victory, Culibao insisted he deserves another £42,000 ($50,000) on top of his prize money for carrying on after the low blow.
Whilst thanking the crowd for their support he declared: "It was pretty bad. It was one of those ones where you have just got to kind of figure out if they are still there. Do you know what I mean?

“This is a dream come true. Perth, thank you for having me and the UFC for coming down here. I love you guys! That’s 50K bonus worthy, give me my money!”
Culibao wasn't the only fighter who experienced agony at UFC 284. Alexander Volkanovski was left with a gaping cut above his left eye after losing to Islam Makhachev, who retained his lightweight title on Saturday night.
Makhachev left Volkanovski's gash pouring with blood after delivering a slew of knees to his opponent's face. And despite his valiant display, Volkanovski was unable to stop Makhachev from winning the clash by scores of 48–47, 48–47 and 49–46.
