UFC legend ‘Mighty Mouse’ may fight bodybuilder who says he’d ‘crush his head’

UFC legend Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson could be set to fight a bodybuilder who is nearly twice his size.

Johnson was one of the most popular fighters throughout his time in the Octagon between 2010 and 2018. While small in stature, he was best remembered for his tenacity, slick grappling and for breaking Anderson Silva's record of 11 consecutive title defences.

Mighty Mouse was traded to One Championship for Ben Askren in 2018 and went on to overcome Adriano Moraes for the Flyweight Championship in 2022. However, his next bout could be a jaw-dropping contest against YouTube bodybuilder Bradley Martyn, who weighs in at a hefty 265lb.

It would certainly prove to be the ultimate battle of skill versus size.

Fitness influencer and podcaster Brendan Schaub claimed Johnson is very interested in fighting Martyn. In a recent appearance on the Bloody Elbow podcast he recounted a conversation with the 36-year-old. “I told Mighty Mouse about him (Martyn) and he is like ‘yeah’,” Schaub began.

“He said: ‘just tell him, I’m down – it’s not going to go well’. He then said: ‘I am going on vacation so let’s figure it out when I come to LA’.”

Johnson left the UFC with a breathtaking 27-3-1 record. Meanwhile, Martyn is better known for asking the likes of Nate Diaz if they think they “could take him in a street fight”. When asked about his chances against the Kentucky native, a very brash Martyn replied: "150 pounds is like a towel to me. I'm gonna crush his head on the floor."

At 6ft 2in and 260lb, he is nearly a whole foot taller than Johnson and almost twice his body weight. Nevertheless, Schaub is less confident of his friend’s chances.

“I' was like: 'Yeah, I know, that's why I want it to go down'," Schaub admitted, when asked what he said to Mighty Mouse when the 36-year-old said the bout would "not go down well".

Martyn recently challenged a Nelk Boys security guard to a little grappling content. It ended with him being suplexed and choked out in a hotel lobby area – maybe he should remember that experience before he steps up to Johnson.
