UFC boss Dana White repairs relationship with champion with £652k gift
I went on Take Me Out before finding UFC stardom
UFC president Dana White has given bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling a luxury peace offering following the pair’s public spat. The duo appear to have put all bad feelings behind them after a recent controversy surrounding the fighter’s schedule.
Sterling managed to secure a split decision win over Henry Cejudo to defend his title back at UFC 288 earlier this year. It was then announced by White that the 33-year-old would fight just three months later.
Sparking concerns he may not be fully fit in time to face Sean O’Malley at UFC 292, Sterling vented his frustrations. Not one to shy away from confrontation, White was quick to respond to his complaints, saying: “If you’re not healthy, don’t take the fight.
“We’ll have somebody else fight, we’ll do somebody else for the interim title. Don’t say you’re going to go out and fight and then start saying stuff like if my body holds up.”
Not wanting to back down, Sterling fired back at the UFC boss: “When I say I’m going to show up, I f***ing show up and I fight.” He then followed his comments up with a social media post.
“I’m a phone call away boss!” He tweeted. “Respectfully, you made a fight, the night of the fight, without a single word of it mentioned to me or checking on my injuries. I have a personal life outside of fighting. But once again, I’ll show up and p*** in everyone’s Cheerios…again. Cheers.”
Since the public clash it appears that both Sterling and White have patched things up. In a recent Instagram post, the UFC fighter was pictured next to a green Lamborghini Huracan sports car with the caption reading: “Thanks for the Lambo, Dana! Green looks good on me bredren.”

The car, which costs £652,000, is an expensive peace offering to the UFC star but one that has clearly worked. In a recent interview with The Schmo, Sterling said: “Dana finally got me that Lambo I’ve been asking for. He’s a man of his word. I mean it’s a pretty damn nice car, I’ll tell you that. It’s a very nice car.”
When then asked if the pair have made up since the clash, he said: “I think so. He knows the money fight, he knows the real main event. I main evented the last one and he knows who to call when he needs another main event.”
Sterling’s next fight will be to face Sean O’Malley at UFC 292 in August. Both fighters will be taking to the octagon in the main event for the Bantamweight championship title.
