Scot Chris Duncan puts on UFC London clinic to take rival’s undefeated record

Chris Duncan put on a performance of the night contender to take the undefeated record of Yanal Ashmouz at UFC London.

The 30-year-old Scot stepped in against his Israeli lightweight counterpart and dominated the exchanges throughout while successfully avoiding the powerful right hand of his foe.

Duncan got the better of the first round and landed heavy shots which did visible damage – also showing off his takedown defence before landing one of his own to set the tone in an unanimous decision triumph.

Ashmouz had returned to the Octagon a year after he secured a stunning knockout win over Britain's Sam Patterson to extend his perfect professional record to seven fights.

Duncan fought on the same card and earned a split decision win over Omar Morales to move to a 10-1 professional MMA record which became 11 wins on Saturday with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, not quite managing to finish his injured opponent.

The pair met in the third fight on the preliminary card in London, after Ireland's Shauna Bannon lost by unanimous decision to Bruna Brasil.

The UFC returned to London for the fourth time inside 16 months this weekend, with all but one of the events headlined by Tom Aspinall.

Having beat Alexander Volkov with a first-round submission last March, he suffered a gruesome knee injury just 15 seconds into a bout with Curtis Blaydes last July.

Leon Edwards then headlined UFC 286 in March of 2023, beating Kamaru Usman by majority decision to win their trilogy and retain the welterweight belt.

Leon Edwards is set to fight Colby Covington later in the year with Molly McCann given co-main duties as she looked to bounce back from defeat having won at both London cards in 2022.
