Dana White believes Khabib Nurmagomedov will end his retirement to fight Conor McGregor – provided the ‘Notorious’ wins the UFC lightweight title. Nurmagomedov held a secret meeting with UFC president White earlier this year amid speculation he will return.

Nurmagomedov has been tipped to reverse his 2020 retirement decision and return to the octagon before long.

The ‘Eagle’ walked away after beating Justin Gaethje via submission in Abu Dhabi last October.

But ever since he left, reports have linked him with a return, and White has often said he believes fans haven’t seen the last of Nurmagomedov.

At UFC Fight Island, he was seen holding a meeting with White – with many feeling they were discussing a potential comeback.

And White believes Nurmagomedov’s hatred for McGregor – who he beat in 2018, will be the reason for his eventual return.

After their meeting, Nurmagomedov decided he would only return if he felt compelled to after UFC 257 – which ended with Dustin Poirier knocking out McGregor int he second round of their fight at UFC Fight Island.

Michael Chandler beat Dan Hooker in the co-main event, and it is believed he could fight for the vacant title in his next trip to the octagon.

But White claims that despite suffering defeat, McGregor will be the man to bring Nurmagomedov back to the cage.

White said: “Khabib’s not meeting with me for no reason.

“He would say, ‘There’s no need to meet. What’s the point in having a meeting?

“‘Love ya, it’s been great. Thank you, but we don’t need to meet. You know my answer.’

“He hasn’t said that, has he? I also believe he hates Conor McGregor so bad.

“The hate that these two have is as real as anything you have ever seen.

“And I believe that if Conor came out of this thing, and Conor was going to be the guy to win the title?

“Now I truly believe that he would fight Conor. I believe that.

“Maybe I’m wrong but we’ll see how it all plays out.”
