Dana White admits Conor McGregor is a "f****** handful" as UFC star plots return

Dana White has admitted Conor McGregor is a "f****** handful" as the UFC star prepares for his 2022 comeback to the Octagon.

The Irishman will soon be able to compete again with his suspension after sustaining a broken leg against Dustin Poirier in July expiring in the New Year.

His latest return is yet another opportunity for a major money-making event for White, who has benefitted massively from McGregor over the years.

While he has been the UFC's greatest ever asset, McGregor's star power hasn't come without complications.

And the latest headache he's given the promotion's boss is asking for a lightweight title fight with champion Charles Oliveira.

Despite that, White has praised McGregor's loyalty to him.

"There’s been a lot of fighters that have been incredibly loyal to me and I’ve been incredibly loyal to them," White told The Fight.

"Conor McGregor’s one of them. Conor’s a f****** handful boy, but when you look at the way fighters are built, they’re different to everybody else on this planet.

"I don’t want to not mention people but there’s been a lot of fighters over the last 20 years that have been very loyal.”

McGregor has usually been on hand for White in the past, including not kicking up a fuss when Jose Aldo was replaced by Chad Mendes at short notice for UFC 189.

His heated feud with Khabib Nurmagomedov was damaging to the sport's reputation, though.

He may be pushing the boundaries with his request to fight Oliveira, having lost three of his last four fights.

White indicated former champ and number one ranked Justin Gaethje was next in line and McGregor would therefore need a different opponent.

However, Oliveira has given him hope of jumping the queue by saying he wants to make the never-before-seen fight happen.

McGregor is expected to return to full training in April ahead of a comeback in the summer.
